ERGA has designed and launched a line for dry beneficiation of silica sands
ERGA Innovation Center has recently conducted research on the possibility of beneficiation of silica sands from the Egyptian deposit by using dry magnetic separation. The aim of the tests was to minimize the iron oxide content and improve the quality of silica sand for its further use in the glass production industry.
In the course of the tests, a technical scheme was developed using magnetic separators of the ERGA DrumMag with low magnetic induction field and ERGA RollMag with high magnetic induction field.
Four samples of material were taken using a rotary splitter. Each was separated on an ERGA RollMag type dry magnetic separator in three stages. The samples obtained from the separation were sent for chemical analysis to an accredited laboratory to evaluate the separation efficiency.
The research has demonstrated the possibility of extracting weakly magnetic minerals containing iron and aluminum using a high inductive separator ERGA RollMag with magnetic field induction on the working surface of 1.5 Tesla.
Chemical analysis of the obtained fractions after the test showed the possibility of extracting weakly magnetic minerals containing iron and aluminum using a high inductive separator of RollMag type. High quality silica sands with silicon oxide content of more than 99.84 % and impurity content of iron oxide less than 0.01 % were obtained.
After the final study, the design and research department designed a silica sand dry beneficiation complex with a capacity of 50 tons per hour!
